With nearly 30 years in outdoor retail, footwear and apparel buyer, Stephanie has seen the evolution of outdoor clothing. Women’s apparel, in particular, has gone from nonexistent or frumpy, to sleek, flattering, and comfortable.

Stephanie’s perspective really sums it up: “One of the changes I have loved seeing is the functional, yet stylish, outdoor wear that is being made for women. When I first started, women had one choice, buy men’s clothing.  It was always big and never fit correctly in certain places. Nowadays, women have a ton of options.  Whether it be strictly technical or clothing that can go right from the trail to your favorite tavern or restaurant, there is something out there for every woman.”

Below are Stephanie’s favorite picks for being prepared for whatever the day throws your way. These items are classic, super comfy, and as at home on the town as they are on the trail.

Arc’teryx Yerba Coat – $299

750 fill down makes this lightweight jacket super toasty. I love that it combines style and function, and packs down small for travel.

Dish Straight & Narrow Jeans – $119

Enough stretch to wear to Thanksgiving dinner, with Coolmax to keep you dry and comfortable. The dark color and fashionable cut works for almost anything.

Free Fly Bamboo Thermal Fleece P/O – $84.95

Soft and fluffy fleece that wicks moisture, plus thumbholes!

Blundstone #1673 – $189.95

The comfort and classic good looks of Blundstone boots, but with a comfortable heel for a little more style.

UBB Leidy Fleece Dress – $88

This cute dress is cozy like a sweatshirt, but looks nicer.  Put with some leggings and boots and you are ready to hit the town. Also, IT HAS POCKETS!!

Pistil Designs Aria Scarf – $38

A scarf adds instant polish to an otherwise casual outfit, plus it can do double duty as a wrap or blanket on chilly evenings.
