Each month, we donate 10% of a day’s sales to support a local nonprofit’s work. Shop on Tuesday, February 20, to support Africa Healing Exchange.
AHE’s specialized model, called Recovery and Resilience for Community Wellness, is based on reciprocity and equal exchange, with the goal of lifting up the new generation. We take a strengths-based approach to bolster individuals’ existing resources in the service of healing past traumas and providing support for recovery from substance abuse and addiction. The primary pilot project components our team will be introducing in Rwanda this coming August are 1) Recovery from Trauma and Substance Abuse and 2) Resilience Training and Prevention through Education. AHE will be the first organization to offer proven support for substance abuse and addiction in Rwanda. AHE’s curriculum is the only one to combine the separate fields of trauma healing, substance abuse recovery, and prevention into one program.
Call it civic pride or mountain spirit, but we think supporting the work of those maintaining trails, cleaning waterways, connecting youth to outdoors, and doing other awesome things to keep WNC a place we can all enjoy…well, it’s the right thing to do. As the area’s first outdoor store, we’ve enjoyed the support of our friends and neighbors since 1964.
