DESCRIPTION:Jim Parham is a North Carolina native and author of more than a dozen trail guides covering the Southern Appalachians. His latest book\, Wildflower Walks + Hikes: North Carolina Mountains\, explored where to find native plants in bloom throughout WNC. \n“My goal was to go beyond a basic wildflower guide\,” says Parham. “I wanted to delve into the different forest types\, which are the key to understanding where wildflowers thrive and when they bloom — from grassy balds and rich coves to spruce-fir forests and high-elevation rock outcrops — and show hikers how to get to them.
