DESCRIPTION:Join AT thru hiker Jack Schroeder\, a winter backpacking instructor of 5 years and veteran of cold weather backpacking\, including a six month thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail\, winter expedition in New Zealand\, and a month long winter decent of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. \nHe’ll cover winter layering systems\, tent and campsite selection in snow or winter storms\, sub freezing sleep system considerations\, and tips and tricks for staying warm when the conditions get rough. Jack will share stories\, photos\, and experiences learned along the trail and be available to customize winter systems and discuss the most beautiful winter hikes in the area to explore when the snow comes. \nOutdoor U is a series of FREE education classes aimed at getting us out of our comfort zones to explore more.
